Prosecutor General’s Office: completed pre-trial investigation concerning one of the suspects for the murder of officers of the Republic of Lithuania in Medininkai Border Customs Post

Prosecutors of Prosecutor General’s Office informed Konstantins Michailovs (Nikulins), the former militiaman of Riga Special Purpose Police Squad (OMON) of the Ministry of Interior of USSR that pre-trial investigation into massacre of seven police and customs officers of the Republic of Lithuania and attempt to murder one more officer in Medininkai Customs Post on 31 July 1991 in respect of him has been completed. The suspect has a right to get familiar with pre-trial investigation material and submit requests for supplementing the pre-trial investigation.

According to prosecutors, the data which was collected during pre-trial investigation is sufficient to ground the suspect Konstantins Michailovs being guilty for the commission of the crime under Article 129 Paragraph 2 Points 2 and 10 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania.

Meanwhile, investigation concerning other suspects namely, the former OMON Chief Česlav Mlynik and militiamen Andrej Laktionov and Aleksandr Ryžov who were not surrendered by the Russian Federation to the Republic of Lithuania, has been separated and pursued.

Today at 11:15 a.m. in the press conference hall of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Chief Prosecutor of Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Department will make his comments to the representatives of news services.
